Week by week

Twelve weeks of links inside a new client retainer

Clients want a date. We cannot give one for rankings, but we can give a calendar for your own work, so the retainer feels steady while Google does its thing.

Asking where to buy contextual backlinks safely is really asking how to pace the buying. Safe is not a property of a seller; it is a habit of small batches, relevant donors and honest reporting.

No plan removes risk. Google's SpamBrain and the March 2024 spam policies exist because bulk link schemes were common, so we stay modest in volume and clear about what each link is for.

The calendar

  1. Crawl, baseline, no orders

Export Search Console data, note indexed pages and top queries, and list the three pages you want to push.

  2. Technical fixes and content brief

Resolve errors on those pages. Write the brief for the first article and decide what the page needs before links arrive.

  3. First small basket

Score donors with the scorecard, order two or three placements, and pick anchors that read like normal sentences.

  4. Wait and verify

Placements usually go live in about 24 hours. Open each one, check it is dofollow and indexable, and log the URL.

  5. Second basket, different donors

Change niche neighbours and price points. Do not send the same anchor twice.

  6. Content refresh

Update the pages that received links. A fresher page gives the new authority something to hold.

  7. Read the data

Compare impressions and average position per page in Search Console. Expect noise; movement is rarely linear.

  8. Report and decide

Show donors chosen, spend by track, and the page-level data. Agree whether the next quarter keeps the same split.

What each week is really for

Weeks one to four belong to technical and content. Nothing here buys links. That feels slow to a client who signed on Monday, so say it on the first call and put it in the scope.

Weeks five to eight are the first real contact with the marketplace. Keep baskets small. A basket you can review in ten minutes is a basket you will actually review, and two or three donors scored well beat twelve scored in a hurry.

Weeks nine to twelve are for reading. Be patient. Search Console reports lag by a couple of days, and many pages need longer than twelve weeks to show anything, so report what you did and what the data shows.

What goes in the week-12 report

  • Spend per track against the monthly cap.
  • Each placement: donor, date live, target URL, anchor.
  • Search Console clicks and impressions for the three target pages.
  • Referring domains gained, according to your own backlink tool.
  • What we will change next quarter, in one sentence.
A note on timing

Pages can move within weeks or not at all in a quarter. If a client expects a result on a fixed date, say that the calendar covers your actions, not Google's.

When to break the plan

Break it when the site breaks. A migration, a plugin update or a robots.txt slip can wipe out weeks of work overnight.

Pause orders, fix the cause, then resume at the batch size you had. The budget guide explains which track gets the money in that month.
